Dental Zirconia Blocks & Discs

Pre-sintered dental zirconia is supplied as a block or disc that is milled oversized and then fired to full density in a sintering furnace. Shrinkage during sintering is typically around 20-25%, and the correct shrinkage factor is printed on every block we ship. If your software's shrinkage calibration is off by even 0.5%, restorations will fit poorly regardless of how good the mill or bur is.

Handling and storage

Pre-sintered zirconia is hygroscopic. Keep blocks in the original sealed packaging until immediately before milling, and do not re-use blocks that have been sitting on an open tray for more than a few days - moisture uptake causes uneven shrinkage and crack initiation. We ship with a desiccant and batch / shrinkage label on each piece.
